2015 November November 27 marks the world premiere of Rands' "Concerto for English Horn and Oboe" with The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. Robert Walters is the soloist, and Lionel Bringuier conducts this Oberlin Conservatory commission. Additional performances will take place on 28 and 29 November. More information about the performances. 2014 In the composer's 80th year, Bernard Rands' works received 70 performances worldwide. 2013 November ICE Ensemble with Anthony Costanzo to Perform Bernard Rands Portrait at Miller Theatre in New York on November 13, 2014 2012 March From March 12, 2012 through early April, Rands will be guest resident composer at the Hermitage Artists' Retreat in Florida. On March 15, Rands will give a lecture/interview presentation of his recent opera Vincent, at the Asolo Theater, Sarasota. February Early in 2013 a C.D. recording of Rands' piano music will be made by pianists Ursula Oppens and Robert Levin. The recording project is funded by the Copland Foundation and the recording will be released by Bridge Records. In February, 2012 Rands is featured on Music U.S.A. Music Box - video interview and printed text of complete interview. Rands has received a commission from the Boston Symphony Orchestra for a Piano Concerto for pianist Jonathan Biss. The premiere performances will be in April 2014 - conducted by Robert Spano.
